New tunes from A-trak, Surkin, Waifs & Strays and more..

We've been a bit shit about posting recently so to make up I've got a blast of tunes to get you all hyped for the weekend, especially for Annie Mac Presents - Annie Mac, Fake Blood & Jigsaw! which should be fucking massive, cannot wait!

Surkin - Ultra Light - Finally a 320 of this massive tune, such a cool beat from French Housers and Marble heads Surkin.

The Rapture - How Deep is Your Love (A-Trak Remix) - A-Trak's finest work since Heads Will Roll, this isn't a 320 but it should whet your appetite for the full release, anthemic! Also check out his 'Dub For Mehdi', available for free download, just hit here!

Waifs & Strays - Body Shiver - Yeah Yeah has been my tune of the last few months and Bristol houser's Waifs & Strays continue to dominate with a fantsatic new tune. featured on Jamie Jone's FabricLive compilation, high praise indeed!

Fake Blood - Medieval - Another one we've been waiting forever for, a phenomenal bassline, which will rip The Liquid Rooms a new one on Saturday night, get on it!

And now its time to go a little bit deeper...

Burnski - Orange and Blue (mrtzc link, follow the instructions, trust me. it's worth it)- Beautiful deep house from rising start Burnski, sounded unreal at Heavy Gossip last Saturday.

Friendly Fires brand new album 'Pala' has already had its first single, 'Live Those Days Tonight' perfectly remixed by Tim Green & Catz 'N' Dogz and now the next single, 'Hurting' gets the treatment from deep house dons Benoit & Sergio, who have taken 2011 by storm with tracks such as "Everybody' and 'Principles', check out the video below.......

Foster The People - Helena Beat (Lenno Remix)

Young producers seem to be absolutley killing it at the moment, first up we had Madeon with his unreal remixes of Deadmau5 & Pendulum, then we had Bjornberg with his big room smash Absolut. Now we've got another 16 year old scandanavian prodigy called Lenno. He's taken Foster The People's Helena Beat and turned it into a nu-disco banger, i'm already a massive fan, watch out for this kid in the future...

On Monday 3rd October at CabVol Movida & Corona are hosting a DJ competiton and we've pulled our act together and applied, this is our mix, which will be judged and if it's in the top 4 will earn us a slot on the night where we go head to head with 3 other Edinburgh based hopefuls, give it a listen, let us know what you think and if you're a fan, give it a favourite or a rehost. Its quite a deep mix, starting off lighter before getting heavier with remixes from Visionquest star Shaun Reeves and man of the moment Jamie Jones before going nu-garage at the end as a curveball...

Edinburgh Gig Guide Vol 1.

Fresher's week has passed, everyone is hungover, tired and looking forward to settling down into the strict routine that uni brings. However, here in beautiful Edinburgh there's a whole host of massive parties in the coming month that promise to keep uni attendance and grades at an all time low. We are truly being spoilt for talent...

SUGARBEAT: SBTRKT // C.R.S.T // UTAH SAINTS  30th September
Fresh off the back of releasing his debut album, SBTRKT (pronounced subtract) brings his gorgeous future garage/post dub/electro mess to Cabaret Voltaire. It's really hard to describe his style, far easier to go check out his album. Check out 'Trials Of The Past', 'Never Never' and my favourite tune from his album...

SBTRKT - Pharoahs

Zed Bias - Caves  30th September
On the same night as SBTRKT, garage/dubstep producer Zed Bias smashes The Caves. Not much info has been released about this gig yet but if his past productions are anything to go by this night'll be special. This guy's making garage funky...

Zed Bias - Been Here Before

Gasoline Dance Machine Launch Night With Special Guests The C90s 1st October
The C90s are two london based producers who have been making waves in the disco seen for about two years now. On soundcloud their style is described as Disco Club Cosmic House, i haven't got a clue what that is but just listen to their remixes then go down this night, they also do a monthly mix which are always unreal...

Remixes by TheC90s

ANNIE MAC PRESENTS: ANNIE MAC, FAKE BLOOD & JIGSAW 1st October
Now there are two unreally large gigs coming to Edinburgh in early October and this is the first. Annie Mac needs no introduction, she has been the queen of new electronic talent for a number of years now, she's done pretty much everything that DJs aspire to do and she's done it all without becoming a producer. Accompanying her is bassline monster Fake Blood who released his brand new Deep Red EP recently. An absolutely essential gig.

MUSIKA featuring JAMES ZABIELA and MAYA JANE COLES 8th October
The second unreal gig hitting Edinburgh in October again needs very little introdcution. James Zabiela has been on top of the techno game for ages now, we saw him at Exit Festival in the summer and although i'm not really into the techno scene he absolutlely blew my mind, incorporating some sort of effects keytar (?) into his sets on the build ups. Crazy. Maya Jane Coles is an upcoming producer who has been producing some outrageously good tunes as of late, can't wait for this night...

Maya Jane Coles - The High Life

Maya Jane Coles  - What They Say

Souloco Presents Subb-An 21st October

Souloco bring Subb-An to the capital, with releases on labels we adore such as Crosstown Rebels and Hot Creations, his deep sound will destroy Cab Vol, big look, Musika residents Jamie Mckenzie and Kirk Douglas, alongside Chris Graham provide support.

De-Signer - Suicide Girl (Robin Porter & Subb-An Remix)

This list is by no means definitive and i'll keep posting Edinburgh gig guides at the beginning of every month or so, so keep glued to the Juicy! blog for updates...

Katy B - Lights On (Gigamesh Remix)

Ok so firstly, apologies everyone, we've been away for a while, DJing virtually every night in Edinburgh for the past week and a half, on top of which we're currently working on a mix for the Movida DJ competition too, which should be dropping tomorrow, so hang around for that....

But as a welcome back heres a tasty remix by Gigamesh, whose remix of Foster The People is also well tasty, this time he's giving Katy B's 'Lights On' the treatment and its a funky disco groove, get it downloaded!

Katy B - Lights On (Gigamesh Remix)

Equally its been a sad week as one half of Carte Blanche and all round superstar DJ Mehdi passed away, a massive loss to not only the world of music but the world in general, remember the good times below....

Bxentric - September Jockey Club Mix.

You may remember a while ago we posted about Moda's nu-disco stars Bxentric, who have remixed Fligth Facilities and The C90s, their ascension is continuing as they play at Moda parties on a monthly basis and put out gorgeously deep, disco laced mixes for The Jockey Club, this one is no exception, featuring Flight Facilities, Maceo Plex, Benoit & Sergio and more, hit play and lose yourself for an hour of pure quality!

The Whip - Secret Weapon (Alex Metric Remix)

Fortunately for us Alex Metric is churning out tunes like nothing else at the minute, his new remix of The Whip being the latest. Its a typically fantastic piece of work with a ravey hook and a perfectly produced bassline, get it below:-

The Whip - Secret Weapon (Alex Metric Remix)

And as a bonus, the mashup of Metric's remix of Mother Protect and Replica, championed by none other than the Swedish House Mafia, collossal....

Trickski & Soul Clap - Members of the Clap.

Just saw this on the Soul Clap Facebook page, a gorgeous 110bpm slice of disco from Soul Clap, released on Permanent Vacation, the label which is also home to acts such as Mano Le Tough and Session Victim. With a slow, typically rich Soul Clap bassline and rolling melody, it is a track you need in your life!

Jamie Jones, The Magician & more....

Just come across a bundle of new tunes, from the sleek and sexy house of Jamie Jones to the sublime disco of The Magician and a few in between.

First up, Jamie Jones' fantastic remix of 11:11's 'Tourist Trap, real late night techno vibes from without a doubt 2011's hottest DJ, this is BIG.

11:11 - Tourist Trap (Jamie Jones Remix) [Juicy! Juiciest Cut] | Alt Link

Next is Jamie Jones' remix of T.E.E.D, which I blogged before here, like Jamie Jones T.E.E.D has torn 2011 apart with remixes and productions alike garnering support from all over the globe, he has a forthcoming remix of Crosstown Rebels producers Space Ballad's new tune 'Fur Coat' but for now you'll have to be content with Jamie Jones' great mix of 'Trouble'

T.E.E.D - Trouble (Jamie Jones Remix)

Maxxi Soundsystem have previously remixed Hercules and Love Affair to melodic, chilled out effect, but this mix of Retro/Grades' 'Mindfighter' bucks the trend, delivering a driving, building house anthem, one for the DJs for sure!

Retro/Grade - MIndfighter (Maxxi Soundsystem Remix) (Download from Soundcloud link below)

Retro/Grade - Mindfighter (Maxxi Soundsystem Warehouse Mix) by Retro/Grade

Bristol has recently become a hotbed for electronic music other than dubstep, with stars such as Julio Bashmore emerging and Eats Everything continues the trend, signed to Dirty Bird he's been creating a stir in recent months and you'll see why.....

Eats Everything - Lakota

And finally, the piece du resistance, The Magicians first solo production, he is a favourite here at the Juicy! show, having found out how much of a gent he was when we interviewed him in May (listen here). This piano-driven slice of disco is perfect for the end of summer, stick on The Magician over the coming months as he is sure to only deliver pure quality!

Tracks and Remixes by TheMagician

Bonus Magician - Peter & The Magician - Twist

Enjoy!

Laura Jones - Love In Me & Rendez Vous Edinburgh

Just a quick one from me to highlight a fantastic tune by Laura Jones being released on Leftroom, it's called 'Love In Me' and has been tearing up the house and techno world and you can tell why....

Laura Jones - Love In Me (Original Mix) by Leftroom

Download - Laura Jones - Love In Me (Leftroom)

With previous releases on Visionquest Laura Jones has serious credentials, if you like what you hear then check out Rendez Vous in Edinburgh, who booked her to play last night (Saturday), which is in my opinion a phenomenal shout. Add to that the fact they've alread had Lee Foss, Clockwork, Robert James & Russ Yallop grace their decks and you'll see that these boys really know what they're doing, check them out here.

And to further whet your appetitie, here's a mix by resident Ryan Harrower:-
