Juicy's Soundcloud Sundays! #1

Woop! I've got us new feautre. It's no lie that i spend faaar too much time on the internet trawling through music blogs, sites and anything else i can get my hands on. But one musical medium that raises above the rest is Soundcloud. Nowadays it seems like everyone uses it, Deadmau5 under his guise 'Fuck My Life' releases all his previews on it, the release of 'HR 8938 Cephei' actually caused the site since it was so busy. My point here is that it is an absolute goldmine of new and undiscovered talent which was the idea that lead me to this new feature, Juicy's Soundcloud Sundays, clever...

Each sunday (yes, today is a monday), i'll post the best 5 releases on Soundcloud that i have ambled into during the week. Easy. So without further delay...

#5 The Morning Benders - Cold War (Star Slingers Remix)
Not the usual thing i'd listen to but those childish vocals and scattered lead line gave this tune real character that i've not seen in a long time. If The XX were happier and funkier, it would probably sound nothing like this, but its the closest i'm gonna get.

#4 The XX - Intro (Minnesota Remix)
XX songs have been covered alot, so it takes something really special to rise above the rest. This remix is a remix of Sander Van Doorn's XX Booty that exploded late last year, Minnesota takes a chilled Joker-esque approach to great effect. It might not sound like much but the bassline sits so nicely with the original guitars, a lot of the time less is more and this is testament to that.

#3 Tensnake - You Know I Know It
If you're a regular follower of Juicy! or the Juicy! Show, you'll know know just how much me and jack love Tensnake. Disco's coming back and Tensnake's riding the wave, churning out impossibly funky beats from a mere 120bpm. It honestly seems this man can do absolutely no wrong, one of the artists i reallly want to see live.

#2 The Ramones - Blitzkrieg Bop (Drop Out Orchestra Rework)
I really don't know what to say about this, it's an awesome fusion of old punk, funk and disco hauled into the 21st century by this Swedish ensemble. It's one of those secret weapons you know will set any dancefloor alight. Deffo check out Drop Out Orchestra, they're mad.

#1 KareN, Kuka & Dim Becko - Pure Light (Original Mix)
I'll start by saying i have no idea who any of these guys are, found this gem whilst looking through all the other entries to Mauro Picotto's production competition me and Jack entered. Safe to say compared to this we're more out of our league than my beloved carlisle playing in Serie A. Although it's a tried and tested tech house formula, they use the more minimal synths (check the second build up) to devastating effect. Simply sensational.

Finally, Jack showed me this mix the other night and it's bloody class, such funky upbeat garage, is garage resurging to be the next big thing? If this mix is anything to go by then i hope so.
